Hello World

Hello loyal blog readers and welcome back,

I am fully aware that my last blog update was about a month ago and I sincerely apologize for that. I have been kind of wrapped up in the entire college experience (even though nothing ever happens in Wyoming). I have to say I am glad to be back in action though, it feels good to write again. As most of us (including myself), find ourselves in the college environment, I hope everyone is doing well away from home. I think its somewhat normal to miss your family, which is a good thing because that means you love and appreciate them. While we are in college, lets have a good time, but also make something of ourselves. I really think that its easier to start to discover yourself in college, because you are naturally more independent and find yourself making your own decisions more often. My Dad once told me,"Shaunie, you are becoming the man you will be for the rest of your life". I'm still not 100% sure what that means, but I think he is saying that you will start to find yourself in college (or he could just be rambling on like usual). If that is true, let us become the best people we possibly can (or something like that).
I have also started to realize that having a positive mindset is really a good thing to have. Its like always having the sun shining on your face and warming up your mind. I think it helps you smile and laugh, even in times when things are going south. Thinking good thoughts always makes the situation better, no matter how ugly it gets. I also believe in treating others with respect and the belief that I am no better than anyone else. I enjoy being treated with respect, so I try to return the favor. With all of these thoughts in mind, I hope everyone can become who they want to be, and be satisfied with themselves.
I know I am going to miss the summer days and nights, where I really didnt have a worry in the world. It really seems like the transaction from hanging out with friends during the summer, to being up at school went way too fast. Of course I am going to miss Rockies games and summer golf, but fall is here and different priorities are on the horizon. I know that everyone has different beliefs, but there is a memorable quote that has stuck with me that applies to this. Ghandi once said, "You must be the change you want to see in the world", and I hope that everybody can make those personal changes (whatever it may be) and see greatness in themselves.
Aight, that felt good to just get some of those thoughts off of my chest. That blog may have been beneficial to you, or pointless (but I hope it was acceptable). I was kind of aiming for a deeper, more reflective blog (it was kind of an experimental blogging experience). What a wonderful world.

Much Respect to Everyone

Until Next Time, Shaun Hicks
